Broome Herd Dispersal was held November 2010

Broome Dispersal Summary:

  • All lots sold (301) at auction except for one bull - sold later.
  • Top price $8000 for Lot 87- Broome Lovejoy Wheaten B117, purchased by Bundaleer Shorthorns, Gulnare, SA
  • 164 cows and calves averaged $3015
  • 49 ‘D’ drop heifers (with calves or PTIC) averaged $2561
  • 74 ‘E’ drop heifers averaged $1462
  • 4 stud sires averaged $6125
  • 13 semen packages averaged $459

SYCA HEIFER SHOW & EXPO 2009

Here, David Leeds of Broome Shorthorns awarded the winning entrant -   
Emily Eather with her prize - Broome N Wallflower D183 a 12 month old heifer.
Broome, was the major sponsor of the event donating the heifer to the SYCA Heifer Show & Expo which gives young shorthorn
enthusiasts a fun and social opportunity to hone their animal husbandry skills over the three day camp and competition.

Carcass results at 2005 Royal Easter Show

  • Champion Lightweight Carcass (300-380kgs) (pictured below) sire Broome Guest
  • First in Middleweight Carcass Class (381-450kg) on Hook sire Broome Guest

Carcass results at 2003 Royal Easter Show

Broome steer shown by Billabong High School was equal highest placed shorthorn Steer at the Sydney Royal Show 2003 with 4th on the hoof in the open class of steers (300 To 380 Kg,) Broome Stuart Little then went on to be 3rd on the hook scoring 83.5 points

Carcass Results at 2003 Royal Melbourne Show

A Broome steer won the Export carcass Championship at Royal Melbourne Show 2003 - Broome "Scooter" scored 83.1 points.
The 17 month old 550kg steer was sired by Eionmor Mr Gus 80C out of a Broome Zoo Keeper P174 female. Scooter was prepared and shown by Finley High School.
The Heavy Export Steer Class 301-400kg HSCW showed 23 head of both purebred and crossbred steers.

Shorthorns Blitz the Borthwick at 2002 Melbourne Royal

Broome W100 was one third of the Borthwick Trophy Team at the 2002 Royal Melbourne Show. The shorthorn team was champion on both Hoof & Hook and W100 was the highest scoring shorthorn steer in his class. Sired by Eionmore Mr Gus (Imp Can) and out of a Byland Explosion dam, he was prepared and shown by the Finley High School.
